Welcoming a new baby is a big moment, and planning your newborn session should feel simple, not overwhelming. Below are the most common questions I get from families before their session.

When should i book my newborn session?

The best time to book your newborn session is during your second or early third trimester.

Sessions are typically scheduled when baby is 14-21 days old, when they are:

  • Sleepiest
  • Curliest
  • Easiest to pose

I only take a limited number of newborns each month, so early booking is important.

When will the session take place? What if I have my baby early or late?

Your session is scheduled based on your due date, not your delivery date.

Once your baby arrives, you'll email me and we will finalize your exact session day within my preferred 14-21 day window.

How long does a newborn session last?

Newborn sessions are slower and baby-led.

Most sessions last:
2–3 hours

Sessions may sound too long, but this allows time for feeding breaks, diaper changes, soothing & settling baby.  My downtown Puyallup, WA photography studio is central to what downtown has to offer. There are many restaurants within walking distance, a playground 2 blocks away, and most importantly a coffee shop nearby!

Frequently Asked Questions

is newborn photography safe?

Yes, when done correctly, newborn photography is very safe, and your baby’s safety is my top priority during every session. Your baby is always fully supported, and a parent is always within reach whenever needed. Every pose is carefully adjusted based on your baby’s comfort, and some images are created using composite techniques to ensure safety at all times. Newborns are never placed in unsafe positions or left unsupported. If your baby shows any signs of discomfort, we simply move on. Always.
