What happens during the cake smash?

Every Puyallup cake smash photography session follows a simple, baby-friendly flow:

• Warm up

• Portraits: depending on your package this may include individual baby portraits, family photos and/or sibling pictures.

• The cake smash part


Sessions are designed so your baby doesn't get overwhelmed, stays happy as long as possibly, and gets a variety of images.

What do i need to bring to the session?

For your session please bring a cake smash outfit, 2-3 backup outfits, diapers & wipes, sippy cup or bottle, small snacks, towels or washcloth. It's also smart but optional to bring a change of clothes for parents, just in case!

Why should I have a cake smash session in your puyallup studio vs outside?

My professional photography studio that is located in downtown Puyallup gives us the ability to have custom setups and themes. Clients are able to access my props and outfits in the client closet as well as a bathroom for cleanup.  For me, it's easier for consistant lighting to present professional looking photos from a stress-free experience.

What are some things I can do to have a successful cake smash?

I recommend scheduling around your baby's happiest time of day.  Try to get your little one to nap beforehand. Make sure to have introduced foods before the session. Remember to stay relaxed, babies can feel your energy.

when should i book my cake smash session?

Cake smash sessions are typically booked when baby is 10–11 months old so images are ready for their first birthday.
