Completing the Family
There is always something special about welcoming a new baby, but this session was extra sweet because this little guy completed a family of five.
After two beautiful daughters, Mom and Dad welcomed their first baby boy. It was so much fun seeing the excitement everyone had for him, especially his big sisters. They were both a little older than their new baby brother, making them the perfect age to gently hold him, admire him, and soak in all those first moments together. You could already tell they were going to be amazing big sisters.
A Special Visit from Grandma
One thing that made this session even more meaningful was that Dad's mom had traveled from another country to meet her newest grandson. Having family travel such a long distance for a new baby is incredibly special, and I know these photographs will become treasured memories for everyone.
It's moments like these that remind me why I love including family in newborn sessions. These aren't just pictures of a newborn. They're the beginning of a new chapter for an entire family.
Not Every Baby Sleeps...and That's Okay!
Like many newborn photographers, I always hope for a sleepy baby.
This little guy had other plans.
He was much more interested in checking out the world than taking a nap, and honestly, I didn't mind one bit. While sleepy poses are beautiful, awake newborn portraits have a charm all their own. His bright eyes, curious expressions, and little stretches gave us so much personality to capture.
Every newborn session is different because every baby is different. Some babies sleep through almost the entire session, while others prefer to stay awake and watch everything happening around them. My sessions are always baby-led, so we take our time and follow their cues to create beautiful images no matter how the day unfolds.
Tiny Details That Won't Last Forever
One of my favorite parts of every newborn session is photographing all of the little details that change so quickly. Tiny fingers wrapped around Mom's hand, little toes, soft wisps of hair, and those sweet newborn expressions are all things that seem to disappear before parents even realize it.
These are the moments I hope families look back on years from now and remember exactly how tiny their baby once was.
Thank You for Trusting Me
It was such an honor to photograph this sweet family as they welcomed their newest addition. Watching two proud big sisters love on their baby brother and seeing multiple generations together made this session one I'll remember for a long time.
If you're expecting a little one, newborn sessions are best reserved during pregnancy to ensure availability. My Puyallup studio is fully stocked with wraps, blankets, props, hats, and everything needed to create a customized newborn experience. I love photographing growing families throughout Puyallup, Tacoma, Seattle, and the surrounding areas, and I'd be honored to help preserve these first memories for yours.
