Watching Your Baby Turn One Is So Bittersweet
The first year goes way faster than anyone warns you about
One minute you have a sleepy newborn who barely uncurls their fingers, and then suddenly you have a baby sitting up, making faces, grabbing everything, and very clearly having opinions. Turning one feels like a big milestone for them and honestly for parents too. You made it through the long nights, the guessing games, the growth spurts, and all the tiny firsts in between.
That is exactly why I love cake smash sessions.
They are not really about the cake. They are about that in between stage where they are still your baby but starting to become a little person.
Why Cake Smash Sessions Are My Favorite

Every baby reacts differently and that is what makes it so fun. Some gently poke the frosting. Some go all in immediately. Some stare at me like I have personally offended them by putting cake in front of them. And some are just proud of themselves for sitting there.
The best part is parents get to just watch and not have to cleanup.
You are not trying to hold your phone, wipe hands, fix outfits, and keep them happy at the same time. You actually get to enjoy it and see their personality come out in real time. Those are the moments you usually miss because you are busy being mom or dad.
You Don’t Have To Plan Anything
A lot of parents worry they need to come up with a theme or outfit, but you really don’t.
I design the setup around your baby and the colors or theme you like. I also have a client closet you are welcome to use so you are not running around last minute trying to find something that fits. The goal is for this to feel easy and fun, not another thing on your to do list.
You just bring your baby and show up.
When To Book
I am currently booking cake smash sessions through September and they tend to fill earlier than people expect. Most parents schedule about 1 to 2 months before the birthday so you have your photos ready for invitations or the party.
If your little one is turning one soon, now is the time to grab a date. It really is one of those stages you will want to remember exactly as it was.
