This sweet little girl came into the studio for her first birthday session, which also included a few family portraits. Mom wanted to capture this special milestone with some classic family pictures before finishing the session with a soft, boho-inspired cake smash.


One of my favorite parts of planning a cake smash is creating the perfect setup. Parents usually send me their baby's outfit or share a vision they have in mind, and from there I get to bring it all together. Sometimes that means making custom decorations, and other times it's all about building the perfect balloon garland or pulling together props that fit the theme.


For this session, Ugbad wanted a boho theme filled with soft purples, pinks, and florals. If you know me at all, you know that completely speaks to my heart. I absolutely love flowers, and as far as I'm concerned, there is no such thing as too many! It was so much fun layering different textures, colors, and florals together to create a setup that felt soft, timeless, and perfect for celebrating her little girl's first birthday.


The best part, though, wasn't the backdrop. It was watching her little one light up during the session. From sweet smiles with Mom and Dad to digging into her birthday cake, every part of the session captured exactly what first birthdays are all about. These milestones go by so quickly, and I love being able to preserve them for families to look back on for years to come.
